Meet Sara Alger, our dedicated Home Care Package Care Manager who started her journey with us after receiving a timely call from Lyn McBain, our Clinical Nurse Consultant who suggested to Sara she apply for this role.
Sara’s transition from the Nurse Unit Manager of a rehabilitation unit to a Community Nurse before then becoming a Home Care Package Care Manager has been an exciting journey for her.
A nurse since the mid-1980s, Sara brings a wealth of experience to our team. On a personal level, being able to follow up on a client’s care post discharge is something new and rewarding (having previously been only on the hospital side of things). Sara says it gives her immense satisfaction to be able to now play a pivotal role in assisting a client’s journey towards independence and living the best life possible.
For those who’ve had the pleasure of working with Sara, her love for the colour “PINK” is unmistakable. Whether it’s her desk or her attire, the vibrant hue is a reflection of her lively spirit.
Outside of work, Sara is a force to be reckoned with. She’s the proud captain of her racquetball team, the Pink Panthers, and has showcased her prowess in a lady’s doubles team tournament called the Pink Maffia (which they won pre-COVID). Currently, she’s gearing up for the 2023 Masters Games in Adelaide, focusing on Indoor Rowing.
In Sara’s own words,
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted and you are never too old to learn.”
We couldn’t agree more. Sara, thank you for being an integral part of our team and for the passion, dedication, and kindness you bring to work every day. We’re proud to spotlight you!
