Personalised in-home aged care & disability support services

For more than 14 years, Absolute Care & Health has supported older people and people with disability across Melbourne.

We work across three areas: in-home aged care, NDIS disability support, and recovery care. Each of ours has its own specialist team, so the person planning your support knows your sector properly.

That means personal care and nursing built around you, not a standard package. And with hundreds of support workers from Australia and around the world, we can match you for language and cultural background too.

Home care for elderly – personal care, help around the house, nursing, companionship and more. Funded through Support at Home or privately.

We’re a registered NDIS provider delivering daily living support, personal care, community access and complex care. If you’re looking for aged care NDIS support services under one roof, that’s what we do.

Short-term support after a hospital stay, surgery, or an accident, including TAC and WorkCover clients.

Funding for in-home care and support

You can either pay for your services privately or you may be eligible for government funding. Here’s what you need to know about each:

Government funding

You may be eligible for NDIS funding or for government funded in-home aged care through My Aged Care. If you’re coming out of hospital, you may be eligible for some support at home through your hospital.

Private funding

Paying for your in-home care and support privately is simple, you just pay an hourly rate for the services you want and need. You can also use private funding in addition to government funding if you want some extra support.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

These are some of the most common questions, answered for you.

Do you provide both aged care and disability services?

Yes. We’re a registered NDIS provider and an approved Support at Home provider, so we deliver aged care and disability services from the same organisation. Most providers do one or the other, which is why families with needs on both sides often end up managing two relationships instead of one.

In most cases you’ll be funded through one or the other, not both simultaneously. Which one applies depends mainly on your age and when your support needs began. There are edge cases, so it’s worth asking rather than assuming, we can talk through your situation without any obligation.

The NDIS funds support for people under 65 with a permanent and significant disability, and it’s built around working towards your goals. My Aged Care funds support for people 65 and over, 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and it’s built around helping you stay independent at home. Different systems, different assessments, different funding rules.

If you’re already an NDIS participant before your 65th birthday, you can usually choose to stay on the NDIS rather than move across to aged care. If you’re not yet a participant, you’ll go through My Aged Care instead. A lot of people assume the switch is automatic at 65. For existing participants, it generally isn’t.

Neither is better in general terms. They’re designed for different circumstances. The right pathway comes down to your age, when your needs started, and what you want your support to achieve. Because we work across both, we can give you a straight answer instead of referring you elsewhere.

Yes. We’re a registered NDIS provider listed with the NDIS Commission, an approved Support at Home provider, registered with My Aged Care, and a registered provider for TAC and WorkSafe Victoria. We’re also HDAA certified and certified to ISO 9001.

Personal care, assistance with daily life, domestic assistance, social and community participation, dementia care, 24-hour and overnight support, companion care, nursing care, in-home respite, palliative care support, acquired brain injury support and cerebral palsy support. All of them are available across every funding pathway we work with.

We work throughout Melbourne from our South Yarra office, across the inner, eastern, bayside, northern, western and south-eastern suburbs, plus the Mornington Peninsula. If you’re not sure whether we reach your suburb, give us a call and we’ll tell you straight away.

The same set on both sides — personal care, daily living support, domestic help, community access, nursing, respite and 24-hour support. Aged care providers and NDIS providers usually operate as separate businesses, so families end up managing two relationships. We’re one of a small number of NDIS aged care providers doing both, which means one team and one point of contact.

Yes, we certainly can. It’s more common than you’d think.

It depends on your funding. If you’re funded through the NDIS or Support at Home, most or all of your support is covered, though you may have a contribution depending on your circumstances. If you’re paying privately, you pay an hourly rate for the hours you choose. We’ll give you clear figures before anything starts.

No. You can contact us directly. If you already have an NDIS plan or aged care funding, we can usually start quickly. If you don’t have funding yet, we’ll point you at the right assessment and stay in touch while it happens.

If your funding is already in place, we can often start within days. If you’re waiting on an assessment or a plan, the timing depends on that process rather than on us but we’ll tell you what to expect and won’t leave you guessing.

Yes, and plenty of people do. If your funded hours don’t stretch as far as you’d like, you can top them up privately. Same workers, same service, just paid for differently.
