Our acquired brain injury services are built around you: your goals, your routines, and the specific ways an ABI affects your day-to-day life. Whether you need a few hours of support a week or complex, clinically-guided care, our team adapts around you.
What our acquired brain injury support includes?
Every ABI is different, so no two support plans look the same. Our acquired brain injury support services commonly include:
Personal care
Support with daily activities like showering, dressing, grooming and mobility.
Domestic assistance
Respite care
Planned or short-term support that gives family carers a break
Support for daily living and independence
Rebuilding routines and skills at your own pace
Clinical and complex care
Community participation
Support to stay connected with the people, places and activities that matter to you
Complex care programmes
Where a participant’s support needs are complex or more clinically focused, we integrate clinical expertise directly into the support team and provide clinical oversight of the programme.
This is especially important in the early stages of setting up support, ensuring support workers’ skills and experience are assessed against the participant’s specific situation, that any training needs are identified and met, and that every worker has a strong understanding of the individual’s needs.
Our Clinical Nurse Consultant and Learning & Development Manager provide initial oversight, guidance and identification of the skills and training required. They then develop a bespoke support-worker assessment and training plan, tailored to the individual participant, and deliver it to every support worker joining the programme.
Respite care for people with an acquired brain injury
Caring for a loved one with an ABI is demanding and every carer needs time to rest and recharge. Our respite care for acquired brain injury gives family carers a break, with the reassurance that their loved one is in experienced, capable hands.
We offer flexible in-home respite from a few hours to longer planned periods matched to the person’s routines and support needs. Respite for personal carers of someone with an acquired brain injury can be arranged as a regular standing arrangement or as one-off support when you need it.
How acquired brain injury support is funded through the NDIS
An acquired brain injury is a recognised disability under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and ABI support is commonly funded through an NDIS plan.
If you’re an NDIS participant, your plan may fund supports such as personal care, community participation, support for daily living, and respite. We work with participants, families, support coordinators and plan managers to deliver ABI support that aligns with your plan goals and funded supports.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about acquired brain injury support
These are some of the most common questions, answered for you.
What is an acquired brain injury (ABI)?
An acquired brain injury is any damage to the brain that occurs after birth. It can result from causes such as stroke, lack of oxygen, infection, or a traumatic injury like a fall or accident.
Is acquired brain injury support covered by the NDIS?
In many cases, yes. An ABI is a recognised disability under the NDIS, and supports such as personal care, community participation and respite are commonly funded through a participant’s plan. Our Care Advisors can help you understand your options.
What's the difference between an acquired brain injury and a traumatic brain injury?
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one type of acquired brain injury caused by an external force. “Acquired brain injury” is the broader term that also includes non-traumatic causes like stroke or oxygen deprivation. Click here to learn more about ABI vs TBI.

What our participants say about us
“I have a daughter with very complex multiple health and disability issues. She is 22 years old now, and I have never met an organisation who train their staff to her individual needs. Training is just one of the suites of services you offer which make me feel comfortable to leave my daughter in your care.
The individualised training suite both at your training centre, on site and online are remarkable. I have undergone your online course and have picked up a lot of useful information that will help me care for my daughter moving forward.”
