Respite Care on the Mornington Peninsula

Absolute Care & Health provides in-home respite care across the Mornington Peninsula, from Frankston to Sorrento, so your regular caregiver can take a well-earned break.

We can help when your family needs a break

Absolute Team_v3

When your family are your usual caregivers, sometimes they may have other commitments, or simply need time to rest and take care of themselves.

We can give your family the support they need, so they can keep supporting you while looking after their own wellbeing. Respite care lets us handle the caregiving whether it’s a few hours of respite occasionally, a regular day a week or fortnight, or a longer period to cover holidays and time away.

Because our Support Workers live and work here on the Peninsula, the person who comes to your home understands the local community you’re part of.

In-home respite care services across the Peninsula

Whether you just need a bit of help around the house or more comprehensive care, we come to your home and support you. Our Support Workers can do everything your usual caregiver does, including:

If clinical needs are part of the picture, our nursing team can provide nurse-led respite too.

Types of respite care we provide

We tailor respite around your family’s needs — how often, how long, and what kind of support. Common arrangements include:

A few hours

Occasional respite

A carer comes for a few hours so your usual carer can run errands, attend appointments or simply rest.

Regular

Scheduled respite

A set day each week or fortnight your carer can count on. This is the most sustainable rhythm for long-term caring.

Overnight & extended

Overnight & holiday respite

Overnight or multi-day care covering holidays, hospital stays, or when your carer needs time away.

If clinical needs are part of the picture, our nursing team can provide nurse-led respite too.

How respite care is funded on the Mornington Peninsula

For most families, in-home respite is funded — not paid out of pocket. Absolute Care & Health is an approved NDIS, My Aged Care, WorkCover and TAC provider, so how your respite is funded depends on the program you or your loved one is in:

Support at Home

In-home respite is part of your Support at Home funding, drawn from your quarterly budget with no separate day limit. See our Support at Home funding guide.

NDIS

For NDIS participants, respite is usually funded under Core Supports as “assistance with daily life,” and short-term accommodation may cover overnight respite. See our NDIS page.

Recovery care (WorkCover & TAC)

As an approved TAC and WorkCover provider, we deliver respite as part of recovery care after an accident or injury. See our Recovery Support page.

Private funding

Prefer to arrange respite privately, or want extra hours on top of your funded support? Pay an hourly rate for exactly the respite you want. See our private funding options.

We’ll explain your funding and any contribution clearly before anything starts. For a picture of what respite would look like for your family, call us on 1300 030 032.

What our clients say about us

“When the Absolute Care & Health Carers are here I know that if James asked for something he would get it. They even do the ironing which is such an incredible help to me. That has allowed me to get out and do what I need to do.”
