Supporting your independence at home
NDIS assistance with daily life
- Giving you the support and confidence you need
Practical, hands-on support with the everyday tasks that help you live independently at home. Personal care, household jobs and daily personal activities matched to the right support worker for you.
Assistance with Daily Life also called assistance with daily living, or daily living support. It is one of the most widely used NDIS supports. It covers the day-to-day help that makes living at home safe, comfortable and independent.
At Absolute Care & Health, we deliver this support across Melbourne with support workers chosen around your preferences, routines and goals.
What is Assistance with Daily Life under the NDIS?
Assistance with Daily Life is a Core Support category (support category 01) in your NDIS plan.
It funds a support worker to assist with, or supervise, the personal tasks of daily life so you can live as independently as possible at home or in the community.
This category is often shown as Daily Activities and the individual supports are sometimes called daily personal activities or self-care. They all sit under the same Core Support budget, which is one of the most flexible parts of an NDIS plan.
In everyday terms, this support helps with the activities of daily living, the essential self-care tasks such as bathing, dressing, eating and moving around, as well as the instrumental activities of daily living like cooking, cleaning, shopping and managing appointments that keep a household running.
What's included in Assistance with Daily Life?
Your daily living support is tailored to what you need, but commonly includes:
Daily personal activities
Household tasks
Life admin and organisation
Planning your day, keeping on top of correspondence, making appointments and organising household routines like shopping and cooking.
Building daily living skills
Support that helps you develop and maintain the skills to do more for yourself over time.
High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA)
For participants with complex care needs.
Companionship
Examples of Assistance with Daily Life in practice
A few examples of how participants use this support:
- Morning personal care and getting ready for the day
- A support worker to prepare meals and tidy the kitchen a few times a week
- Help managing bills, mail and appointments so nothing slips through
- Regular household cleaning and laundry
- Support to build confidence cooking, shopping or using public transport
High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA)
Some participants need support that goes beyond standard personal care.
For example complex bowel care, tracheostomy or ventilator management, complex wound care, or support requiring a more skilled and experienced worker. These are funded as High Intensity Daily Personal Activities.
Our support workers include people trained and experienced in high-intensity supports, and our services are backed by our community nursing team. If your plan includes high-intensity daily personal activities, we can talk through exactly what your care requires.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about NDIS Assistance With Daily Life
These are some of the most common questions, answered for you.
What falls under Assistance with Daily Life in the NDIS?
Assistance with Daily Life covers help with personal tasks of daily life — personal care and hygiene, eating and moving safely, household tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation, and support to build daily living skills. It also includes high-intensity daily personal activities for participants with complex care needs.
How is Assistance with Daily Life funded?
Assistance with Daily Life is funded from your Core Supports budget. Core Supports are generally flexible, which means you can usually move funding between Core categories (such as daily activities and community participation) without a formal plan amendment with the exception of any stated supports, which are locked to a specific purpose.
You can use this support whether your plan is self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed.
What's the difference between Assistance with Daily Life and daily personal activities?
Assistance with Daily Life is the overall Core Support category (support category 01). “Daily personal activities” (line item 0107) is the specific support within it that covers hands-on help from a support worker with personal tasks like showering, dressing and eating.
Is Assistance with Daily Life a Core Support?
Yes. It sits in your Core Supports budget, which is generally flexible. You can usually move funds between Core categories without a plan amendment, apart from any stated supports.
What is the NDIS code for Assistance with Daily Life?
The category is support category 01. The most common line items are 0107 (Daily Personal Activities), 0120 (Household Tasks) and 0115 (group or shared living arrangements). High-intensity supports use the 400-series items.
What is the difference between standard and high intensity daily personal activities?
Standard daily personal activities cover everyday personal care. High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA) apply when care needs are complex. For example complex bowel care, tracheostomy or ventilator management and a more skilled or experienced support worker is required.
What are the activities of daily living?
The activities of daily living are the essential self-care tasks a person does each day — bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, toileting and moving safely. Instrumental activities of daily living are the broader tasks that support independent living, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and managing appointments. NDIS daily living support and daily personal activities help with both.
Can I choose my own support worker?
Yes. We match support workers to your preferences, including personality, gender, language, cultural background and LGBTI awareness, and we involve you in the selection.
Does Absolute Care & Health provide Assistance with Daily Life in Melbourne?
